The Nutty Life instagram (@nuttylife.boston) is loaded with pictures of smoothies and smoothie bowls. What’s a smoothie bowl? It’s your smoothie poured into a bowl and doused with the most scrumptious toppings in the entire world. My biggest inspiration is my talented friend Tori of kitchen + kraft (rad things for mindful living). And let me tell you – all of her stuff is rad! If you haven’t seen or browsed her hand-dyed pillows and aprons and napkins, scope it out here: http://www.kitchenandkraft.com/.
Tori also has the most impeccable instagram I think I’ve ever seen, especially when it comes to smoothie bowls (@kitchenandkraft). Ahem, hers is the gorgeous one pictured above, next to my messy bowl. When Tori and I meet up, it’s usually at one of our houses to craft a scrumptious and beautiful smoothie bowl. She’s the one who taught me all about it!
Making a smoothie bowl is easy. Grab your favorite type of milk (we usually choose Nutty Life simply cashew mylk) & blend it together with some of your favorite fruits, veggies, seeds, and powders in a blender. Our go-to is blueberries, spinach, banana, chia seeds, spirulina, and maca powder. I never measure out my smoothies. I simply put in whatever amount of each ingredient my little heart desires that morning.
You can use anything for your toppings! I usually like fresh fruit, goji berries, mulberries, almond butter, cacao nibs, coconut shreds, and of course granola! Sometimes I take 15 minutes to decorate my bowl & sometimes I take 1 minute. If you have some creative energy, it’s fun to carefully place every single morsel. If you’re getting a little HANGRY (that’s angry because you’re so hungry), then just sprinkle your toppings around without a care.
Grab a giant spoon & enjoy! Smoothie bowls are a great activity to bring the family together for breakfast or for friends who are looking for a healthy way to bond :) I could eat one for breakfast, lunch, and dinner…
Stay happy and healthy :)
