September 22nd marked the first official day of fall. For me, fall brings with it flannels, apple picking, and a general sense of coziness. With the air turning brisk, most people are turning to pumpkin-spiced lattes to keep warm. I, however, prefer a hot cup of turmeric mylk. Turmeric and cinnamon have been used over thousands of years for their powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. Because cinnamon can help stabilize blood sugar, and because drinking something warm at night helps me unwind, I like to enjoy the mylk as a pre-bedtime ritual.
- 1 cup Simply Cashew mylk
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- Fresh ginger (as much or as little as you like)
Warm the cashew mylk over low heat. Add in the turmeric, cinnamon, and coconut oil. Quickly whisk the ingredients together. Transfer to a blender and add the ginger. Blend ingredients until the mylk is golden and creamy. If you like sweeter beverages, feel free to add in a spoonful of your favorite sweetener. Enjoy while it’s hot!
